Kamal Kharazi, who was addressing the opening ceremony of \u201cRegional Security in West Asia: Emerging Challenges and Trends\u201d conference in Tehran on Sunday as keynote speaker, briefly emphasized the importance of Middle East from geopolitical, economic and political point of views.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecurity has always been a concern in the region due to aforementioned causes; yet the security concerns of regional states are interwoven and you cannot separate them in this regard, meaning that every country\u2019s national security is defined within the frame of regional security; therefore considering the regional security is a vital concern for every country,\u201d former Iranian foreign minister said while noting the security issues in Middle East.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorld powers, after establishing the Zionist regime and leaving the region, prioritize the support for allies, arming them and suppressing the popular movements of the region on their foreign policy; yet the equations faded away as Islamic Revolution emerged, which was not only independent of powers, but also against them,\u201d he reaffirmed.<\/p>\n
Kharazi underlined that despite all plots including coups, war and sanctions, Islamic Republic flourished and became a role model for countries of the region to fight against the occupiers; \u201cthe next step was forming terrorist and extremist groups by western powers under the leadership of the US and support from Saudi Arabia and UAE; but all efforts failed as it led to Iran\u2019s more influence in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
“Saudis started establishing bases in all Islamic countries to promote Wahhabi thoughts; the Takfiri \u2013 Wahhabi forces trained in the bases started operations in Iraq, Egypt and Syria and were successful in occupying large parts of the countries under the financial and arm support of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey as well as political and logistic support of US and Israeli regime;\u00a0 but their main target was Iran,\u201d Mr. Kharazi noted.<\/p>\n
He continued \u201cSyrian and Iraqi governments officially asked for help of Iran; with help of Hezbollah and Popular Mobilization Forces the plot was foiled while Iran gain a significant influence; US, Israeli regime and their Arab allied were the losers as they failed to threaten Iran\u2019s security despite the huge costs.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, I have to say, the security of the countries in the region depends to one another; also, the future of regional security lies in cooperation and interaction between governments and newly-emerged identities and trends; no one can deny the role and power of Iranian mobilized forces and IRGC, Iraqi PMF, Syrian popular forces, Lebanese Hezbollah and Yemeni Ansarullah in the region, the emerging powers that would take very vital roles in establishing region\u2019s security and stability in the future just as they proved their capabilities in fight against terrorism,\u201d Kharazi asserted.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring this intense war, the role of European states was decisive; while strongly worried on infiltration of terrorists to Europe, they did no serious act against the terrorism due to support they have for Israeli regime and certain Arab states in the region and following US policies; the international coalition was also a funny show including the states who has created ISIL and al-Nusra themselves; the sole trans-regional power who fought terrorism seriously and played an important role in defeating them was Russia,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Kharazi underlined that despite relatively stable conditions in Iraq and Syria, a new round of anti-Resistance efforts are on the agenda with Saudi Arabia as the leading country; \u201cpushing Saad Hariri to resign, prolongation of support for terrorists in Syria, putting pressure on Shias in Bahrain, continuing war in Yemen, and normalization of ties with Israeli regime are all indicators; my prediction is that the fight between Resistance Front countries and US allies would continue; but there\u2019s hope that Resistance would not allow the power balance to change in favor of the anti-Resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have to say there is no hope for establishment of a collective mechanism on security in the region as there are undemocratic and authoritarian states in the region; without such a mechanism the region would continue to suffer from security issues as every regional power is seeking its own interests and tries to develop its own power; given that, the sole way for Islamic Republic to safeguard its security is to reinforce its defense might, to develop its national sovereignty through national unity and help strengthen the Resistance front; the strategy, naturally needs active and efficient diplomacy to stabilize the outcomes of battle fields on political arena as well,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
