NATO was initially created to contain the Soviet Union; after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it faced confusion; it experienced failed missions in the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Libya; and after the Ukraine war, it once again emerged under the pretext of deterrence against Russia. However, the war against Iran has confronted this alliance with a deeper crisis: NATO no longer knows precisely why it exists and what mission it should pursue.<\/p>\n
The recent aggressive war against Iran, rather than presenting NATO as a powerful alliance, exposed its operational weaknesses, political divisions, and structural limitations to global attention.<\/p>\n
The War Against Iran and the Exposure of NATO\u2019s Operational Weaknesses<\/strong><\/p>\n The war against Iran demonstrated that NATO, despite its extensive claims, lacks the ability to manage complex crises. Widespread disruptions to energy routes, threats to maritime shipping lines in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, increased migration pressures, vulnerabilities in supply chains, and extensive cyberattacks all demonstrated that this alliance is even incapable of protecting the vital interests of its own members.<\/p>\n The costly defense systems deployed in the region, which had been installed under the claim of protecting allies, proved entirely ineffective against Iran\u2019s combined tactics. The experience of the war against Iran demonstrated that political consensus is the rarest asset of this alliance, and without it, NATO is destined for incapacity.<\/p>\n NATO on the Path of Decline<\/strong><\/p>\n The war against Iran confronted NATO with a bitter reality: this alliance no longer has the ability to manage complex crises, cannot overcome its internal divisions, and does not know precisely why it exists.
