In an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Hadi Borhani talked about some moves by the Zionist regime to attack Lebanon: The Hezbollah and the Israeli army are now engaged in a limited war,  which is mainly taking place in the border area and has not been extended to civilian targets and civilians. Since the beginning of the conflict, which was the product of Hezbollah’s bold initiative to protect the people of Gaza, the Israeli regime has threatened to invade Lebanon. Although these threats have continued for the past eight or nine months, the tone of the threats and accompanying measures have increased and have reached their peak in recent days to the extent that several countries have recalled their nationals from Lebanon due to the dire security situation and the possibility of an all-out war.

He stated that there are many movements in the region now, which are signs of an all-out military attack by the Zionist regime on Lebanon. He said: The transfer of the USS Eisenhower from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea has been evaluated in this regard. This has put the region in front of an important development and a fundamental question of whether these developments are a prelude to the Israeli regime’s all-out attack on Lebanon.

This expert on regional issues stated that the possibility of an all-out attack by the Israeli regime on Lebanon is not very high and noted that the Israeli regime is putting pressure on Hezbollah and Lebanon through certain positions and movements to increase the cost of the current conflict and hinder them. Hezbollah will be bolder in launching its attacks on the Occupied Territories. On the other hand, the Israeli regime can put pressure on America and Europe by increasing its threats. The officials of the Israeli regime are worried about the critical positions of European countries regarding the Gaza war. They are not even satisfied with the positions of the Biden administration regarding this war.

He emphasized that America and European countries are not in any way in favor of the escalation of tension and the Israeli regime’s attack on Lebanon, which can set the Middle East on fire. The Israeli regime can use this concern of the West as a lever to adjust the positions of the Western countries regarding the Gaza war. Therefore, playing this role has benefited the Israeli regime so far, but the implementation of this threat and comprehensive attack on Lebanon is another story.

He pointed out that a comprehensive attack on Lebanon is not in line with the interests of the Israeli regime and its security. The Israeli regime is in a difficult situation due to the attack on Gaza and the developments related to it. The army of this regime has been fighting in Gaza for nearly nine months and has suffered many casualties. At the same time, the army of the Israeli regime is exhausted and needs more troops to continue the war. The Israeli regime is not in a favorable situation, even in terms of weapons and ammunition, and many countries have difficulty in providing military aid to this regime, including the United States.

This international affairs expert stated that this regime’s economy has been facing unusual and warlike conditions for nine months. Internationally, this regime is in a dire and unprecedented situation. The state of public opinion in the countries of the region and the West has become highly negative towards the Israeli regime. The United Nations and international organizations have also put pressure on the Israeli regime for genocide and war crimes in Gaza. On the other hand, the enemies of the Israeli regime have mobilized in the region and organized a united front against Tel Aviv, which includes Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Yemen.

In general, an all-out attack on Lebanon in such a situation is a considerable risk and can endanger the future of the Israeli regime.
