Ali Abdi, an expert on Palestine affairs, in an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, said: That letter is important from several points of view; the first aspect is related to the letter’s author. Mr. Sinwar is the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and, in this respect, is considered the senior commander of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation. On the other hand, currently, Mr. Sinwar has become the number one target of the Zionist regime; that is to say, based on what is reflected in the Zionist media about him, the number one target of the Zionist regime is Mr. Sinwar. Then they are looking for the assassination of Mohammad Zaif, the military commander of Hamas, on whom the battle of Al-Aqsa Storm depends militarily.
According to Abdi, the next issue is related to the date of the letter and its importance. The letter was written when more than 80 days had passed since the start of the war. During this period, every imaginable cruelty and brutality has been committed by that regime against the oppressed and defenseless people of Palestine. Killing, genocide, and crimes against humanity were among the crimes committed by that regime in Gaza during that time.
He added: In a situation where the number of martyrs and the extent of destruction in the Gaza Strip is unprecedented, and such an extent of destruction had never happened in any battle before, when even hospitals, schools, and UN centers were attacked, sometimes it was thought that Hamas in Gaza is likely to soften its position. But the text of this letter indicates another issue; first, this text is completely epic, and second, the text is written from a position of power. That is, there is no sign of weakness in the letter.
Abdi emphasized: This issue is important because despite the number of martyrs and the destruction of Gaza, Hamas shows in this letter that there is no disruption in the determination of the group to continue fighting.
Pointing out that Yahya Sinwar is talking about conquests in his letter, the expert on Palestine affairs said: More than 750 tanks, vehicles, personnel carriers, and bulldozers have been targeted by Hamas attacks during that period, and more than 5,000 injured and killed Israelis is not a small achievement for Hamas.
He explained that in that letter, Sinwar warned the political branch of Hamas, which is based in Doha, that they should not fall short of the stated positions and conditions of the Resistance in the negotiations because the winning card of the field is now in the hand of the Resistance.
The expert mentioned two reasons for Hamas winning the field and said: One reason is the lack of minor military achievement for the Zionist regime in Gaza, and the second reason is that the regime is still held captive by Hamas. It is true that some of those prisoners were killed in the bombings. However, in any case, the prisoners are still in the hands of the Resistance as a trump card of Hamas, which is a factor to put pressure on the government of Benjamin Netanyahu and the Zionist regime.
The researcher of Palestine affairs said: Such points in Mr. Sinwar’s letter are significant and show that despite all the path that the Zionist regime has taken, not only has not had any achievement in the field, but it has also suffered significant failures. Also, the Resistance showed that neither its will nor its ability has been weakened in the field. In fact, the Palestinian Resistance is fully prepared and motivated to continue its presence in this battle, while the Zionist regime has suffered erosion and reduced motivation.
