US cannot extort or speak to Iran in the language of threats

SCFR Online: Kharrazi: "We need 3.67% enriched uranium for our power plants and 20% enriched uranium for the Tehran research reactor. The Middle East must be declared a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (NWFZ)."

The President of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, in response to a question by Dr. Khatibzadeh, the host of “Tehran Dialogue Forum”, regarding the statements of President Trump emphasized that: “The Americans themselves requested us to negotiate, and this demonstrated that Iran is a powerful country. They cannot extort Iran or speak to Iran in the language of threats.”

He added: “Iran’s nuclear technology has reached a stage where it cannot be eliminated, because it has been developed without others’ assistance and is a pure Iranian knowledge. We are not averse to negotiations, and that is why we accepted their request to negotiate, in which the sanctions have to be lifted. We need 3.67% enriched uranium for our power plants and 20% enriched uranium for the Tehran research reactor.”

Dr. Kharrazi said, “Despite having the capability to produce nuclear weapons, the Supreme Leader’s fatwa has tied our hands, and therefore, we cannot produce nuclear weapons. However, other countries in the region may move toward nuclear weapons production because Israel possesses them. Therefore, to prevent a nuclear arms race in the region, the Middle East must be declared a nuclear-weapon-free zone, and Israel must be disarmed.”

Dr. Kharrazi stated: “Geopolitical developments at the international and regional levels have led countries in the region to seek dialogue and cooperation to play a role in a multipolar world order.”

He added: “This is why the atmosphere of cooperation and dialogue among regional countries is positive, as we witnessed that in the fourth round of Iran-Arab talks held last week in Doha.”

Referring to the dominance of the U.S. dollar and the five permanent members’ control over the U.N. Security Council, he stressed: “To change this unjust order, new measures need to be taken. Since the unipolar world is collapsing, the establishment of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, along with the rise of regional powers, is paving the way for a multipolar system.”

Dr. Kharrazi, in response to a question about Iran-Europe relations, said: “We have always hoped Europe would act independently, but after the JCPOA, due to U.S. secondary sanctions, Europe cut its cooperation with Iran, revealing its lack of independence. Europe has great potential and must preserve its independence, but unfortunately, due to its alignment with the U.S. and Israeli influence, our relations with Europe remain frozen.”

Addressing Europeans regarding the “live Holocaust” in Gaza, he said: “You are witnessing a live Holocaust and the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. With what justification are you sending weapons to Israeli criminals? This proves Europe’s complicity in these crimes.”

Dr. Kharrazi added: “Our relations with Europe are frozen, but this does not mean we do not seek improvement. Recently, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister met with three European countries and briefed them on Iran-U.S. negotiations.”
