Meeks and Cardin’s agreement to the said contract, in that they are among the four main representatives who can veto foreign military sales, means the progress of an important part of the agreement to sell military weapons to Tel Aviv. The US State Department has initiated the next step towards finalizing this agreement, which is to inform Congress about this resolution.
Regarding the new contract that is being signed, there are significant points, the most important of which are mentioned below:
One: The signing of the new contract for the sale of arms to Tel Aviv is in its final stages, while America has been the most important and most prominent source of all kinds of tactical and strategic weapons to the Zionist regime in the past eight months, contrary to human rights gestures.
From October 7, 2023, until now, three large contracts for the sale of US military items and equipment to the Zionist regime have been made public, including more than 130 large shipments of weapons, including various types of guided ammunition, small-caliber bombs, unguided bombs, big bunker buster bombs, anti-tank rockets, 25 jets and F35 fighter engines and other aid have been sent to occupied Palestine.
It is interesting to note that more than 100 licenses for the sale of military weapons have been given to the Zionist regime between October 2023 and these recent weeks, only three of which have been publicly disclosed. This volume of military aid in a short period, some of which is hardly given to other countries, is unprecedented.
Two: Pursuing the signing of a large arms sales contract amid the Gaza war while regional and international efforts for a ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza continue it means strengthening the war status of the Zionist regime and America’s agreement to the continuation of the war and the killing of civilians and genocide in Gaza.
In addition, the continuation of military aid to the Israeli regime shows that the US government, contrary to its statements and positions, has no will to stop supporting Netanyahu and the army of this regime in the Gaza Strip and is the main factor in keeping the fire of war burning in Gaza.
It is very important that the arms manufacturing companies, which play an effective role in the direction of American foreign policy, have sold tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons to the Zionist regime in less than nine months.
At the current stage, selling arms to the Zionist regime is a “commercial policy” in the developments related to the Gaza war. In fact, the American government’s policy towards the Zionist regime and the Gaza war in various existential dimensions (from the veto of UN and Security Council resolutions on the Gaza war to various arms sales contracts) clearly shows that the ceasefire in Gaza is more than the decision of the Zionist regime authorities. Depends on the “will” of the American authorities.
If the United States “decides the war to end today, even if the Zionist regime insists on continuing the war, the United States’s will and decision will be realized quickly. It is only necessary for the American government to announce “real” and not “show” that it will stop selling arms and military aid to the Zionist regime.
Three: Arming the Zionist regime with all kinds of war equipment, knowing that the weapons sent are used to kill civilians, women, and children, is not only a flagrant violation of human rights by the White House but also contradicts some prohibitions on the sale of weapons in the American domestic laws.
In America, a law called “Leahy” prohibits any transfer of military aid to foreign governments or groups that commit gross violations of human rights.
The continuation of the killing of the people of Gaza with American weapons is an issue that seems to create more problems for the Biden government, which is currently under pressure from public opinion and the protesters inside the United States.
The White House must accept the fact that what it faces in its deadly military aid to the Zionist regime’s operations in Gaza – and beyond – is not just a political problem but a legal one that violates international humanitarian law and the administration It places America as a partner in the war crimes of the Zionist regime.
But as for whether the contract mentioned will be signed or not, it must be said that there is a consensus among the various American parties and representatives of the Congress and the Senate about supporting the Zionist regime at any level and providing its security by any means; therefore, despite some struggles regarding the recent contract, this contract will finally be approved by the Congress.
The final point is that sending military weapons at such a level to the Zionist regime not only causes the erosion of the war and the continuation of the genocide in Gaza but also puts peace, security, and stability in the region at risk even more.
