While referring to the recent paraphed document in Washington, Dr. Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, emphasized on the necessity of respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as establishing peace and stability in the Caucasus region, and expressed his opposition to the presence of the United States in Armenia in the framework of an investment and operating company on the transit route between the two countries, and said it could pave the way for further U.S. interference in the region.
He stated, “We hope the Armenian government will address the concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s consistent support for Yerevan in this meeting and stressed that Armenia takes into account Iran’s considerations and red lines in its foreign relations.
He expressed hope that during the upcoming visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia and the signing of new agreements, the cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened.
